A Hamilton station carrying hip hop, R&B and Caribbean music for a Bermudian audience. Bermuda sits a thousand kilometres off the coast of North Carolina and is not Caribbean geographically — the winters are cool and the water can be too cold to swim in — but the cultural connection is real and old, and the island's population descends substantially from enslaved Africans and from West Indian immigrants. Bermudians follow West Indian cricket, dance to soca and reggae, and Power 95 programmes accordingly, mixing North American urban formats with the Caribbean material that has always had a home here.
