VON Radio

The Voice of Nevis, broadcasting from the smaller island of the two-island federation. Nevis has its own assembly, its own premier, its own festival and a periodic movement for full separation that has come close to succeeding, and its radio reflects that separateness. VON carries local news, community programming and a Caribbean music mix, with its year built around Culturama in late July and early August — Nevis's own festival, entirely distinct from the Sugar Mas carnival that Saint Kitts holds at Christmas. The federation therefore runs two full carnival seasons at opposite ends of the year, and following both islands' stations is the only way to hear it as it actually is.
