🇹🇹 Trinidad and Tobago
A Trinidadian station built around chutney and Indo-Trinidadian music. Chutney developed within the Indo-Trinidadian community from Bhojpuri folk singing, wedding songs and devotional music brought by indentured labourers from northern India, and chutney-soca fused it with the Carnival sound to produce something that belongs entirely to Trinidad. The dholak and the dhantal — a metal rod struck with a horseshoe-shaped striker — supply the characteristic pulse. The station's calendar follows the Hindu one, with extended programming around Phagwah in spring and Diwali in autumn.
