The national calendar peaks with Junkanoo, in the small hours of Boxing Day and again on New Year's morning, when organised groups parade through Nassau in enormous crêpe-paper costumes to goatskin drums, cowbells and brass — a dense, rolling sound quite unlike anything in the southern Caribbean.
